Personal Helpers and Mentors

The Personal Helpers and Mentors (PHaMs) program is a mental health outreach program for people aged 16 years and over whose lives are severely affected by mental illness. Interrelate operates this service in Ballina, Richmond Valley and Kyogle LGAs.

The PHaMs service supports people experiencing the effects of mental illness by assisting them in their own recovery and in reconnecting with their local community.

The PHaMs service will help participants to:

  • become involved in social or community activities or groups
  • cope better with everyday tasks like utilising public transport and budgeting
  • access community services like health, housing or family support
  • set and achieve their own recovery goals to improve their life.

PHaMs is a free service and participants can self-refer. Participants do not need a formal clinical diagnosis to access the service.
