A program that assists couples to manage the demands of life as a stepfamily.

Relating As Stepfamilies helps couples to understand the dynamics of forming a stepfamily and provides useful tips and strategies to create healthy family relationships.
Who is it for?
Parents who want to manage the demands of life as a stepfamily.
Key outcomes
Relating As Stepfamilies aims to:
• encourage an awareness of the challenges, the myths and the complexities of stepfamilies
• identify both partners’ strengths and highlight the importance of utilising these strengths to form the foundations for a healthy family relationship
• compare different types of communication styles and examine the importance of good communication alongside the benefits this can bring to the relationship
• provide a model for effective communication and to identify the link between communication and couple intimacy
• identify the losses stepfamilies have experienced and recognise the importance of developing stepfamily rituals
What to expect
When you come to Interrelate, you can expect high-quality attention and care from professionals who are passionate about helping you to have strong relationships.
This three-session program assists couples to manage the demands of life as a stepfamily.
It will assist parents to:
• examine the challenges and positives of stepfamilies
• examine personal beliefs and the effects of holding onto these
• highlight the losses stepfamilies have suffered
• recognise the importance of developing stepfamily rituals
• compare different communication styles
