Counselling

...for individuals & families
Getting help for emotional or relationship concerns is not a last resort. It’s smart. Modern life is complex and stressful, and relationship difficulties are normal. It is not possible to solve all emotional or relationship problems with the family. And the bigger the personal problem, the less objective we tend to be. Friends can help, but cannot be expected to provide all the support a distressed person needs. Talking to a professional —whose job it is to listen and to help people solve their problems —takes the heat out of any situation and puts you back in charge of yourself and your life.

personal counselling
someone to talk to when you….
■    have a loss that is too hard to deal with on your own
■    can’t cope anymore, with your own feelings, family or your children, at work, or with life in general
■    can no longer control your emotions, whether they are anger, sadness, fear or anxiety
■    need to talk about issues from the past
■    want to lead a healthier lifestyle, but can’t seem to make it happen
■    are in constant conflict with your partner or ex-partner, your children or any other family member, or at work
■    are not satisfied with yourself as a parent
■    want to change the way you deal with your family (whether partner, ex-partner or children), people at work, your friends, or yourself
■    think the children may be suffering from the disharmony within the family, or the fights with your ex-partner
■    know children do best with the care and guidance of both parents, but the other parent makes it impossible for both you and the children
■    find it hard to be involved in your children’s lives, either because they live too far away, or because the other parent won’t co-operate
■    are continually fighting with your ex-partner over the children, money or property, or anything you try to discuss
■    don’t know how to help yourself or the children get over the divorce or separation
■    are over the divorce, but need help to build a new life as a separated person
■    vowed you’d never talk about personal problems to a stranger, but you’re going to run out of friends before you’ve sorted yourself or the situation out

family counselling
to help families communicate with each other…
■    about what they need, to be able to make life better for the whole family
■    when they have stopped listening to each other
■    so they can better listen and understand each other
■    when day-to-day stresses are so high that there are no good times together anymore
■    there are changes people want to make —in themselves or the way they live— that will impact on the whole family
■    when the family is going through a major change like re-location, divorce, children leaving home, sickness or death
■   when separated parents need help to discuss arrangements for the children or any other topic that is causing conflict.

It is not a sign of weakness to ask for help.
It takes courage, and courage takes strength.
You and your loved ones are worth it.
